Why RotaCrutch?

French Dictionary

01

Trademark Protection is Essential

Acquiring trademark for my mark, RotaCrutch (as plain text as well as my finished logo) is essential to prevent any copycats or competitors stealing my name and hard work. This also prevents any such legal issues down the line, making it so that I am the sole owner of the mark.

02

Name Type: Suggestive
Conflicts: None

RotaCrutch is a suggestive name, as it suggests the function of the device, being a portmanteau of "Rotate" and "Crutch" while the product is a rotating mechanism for crutches. It is unique enough to not be considered merely descriptive in my opinion.

Via both Google and the USPTO Search Tool, there are no conflicting entities that have a remotely close name in any industry. The closest thing would be "Rotabroach" which manufactures drill bits and saw blades for power tools. I foresee no conflicts as nothing of the sort exists.

03

International Class: 010 - Medical Apparatus

The product is a medical apparatus, as are standard crutches and crutch pads/feet, so this should remain in international class  010 for Medical Apparatus.

04

USPTO TESS & Application Strategy

The search of the USPTO System came up with absolutely nothing, let alone anything still alive. The closest match in the 743 results was "ROTAGRIP" which was a vetrinary toothbrush attachment from Germany that was abandoned nearly two decades ago.

I would intend to file my application as a 1A Immediate Current Use type to get up and running as soon as possible.
